Johannes "Hannes" Reichelt is a famous Austrian alpine ski racer. He was born on July 5, 1980. Hannes competed in many exciting races. These included downhill, Super-G, and giant slalom.

He was a top athlete in the World Cup series. Hannes retired from professional skiing in March 2021. He was 40 years old when he stopped racing.

Hannes Reichelt was born in Altenmarkt im Pongau, Austria. He started his World Cup career in December 2001. He was 21 years old at that time.

His first big success was in December 2002. He stood on the podium for the first time. Then, in December 2005, he won his first World Cup race. This was a Super-G event.

Hannes also won the Europa Cup overall title in 2005. This is another important ski competition. He also won the Europa Cup title for giant slalom in 2003.

World Cup Achievements

Hannes Reichelt won a World Cup season title in 2008. This was for the Super-G discipline. He won it by just one point! He won the very last Super-G race of that season. This helped him claim the overall title.

In the 2012 season, Hannes did not win any races. But he still had a great year. He finished on the podium seven times. These podium finishes were in three different types of races. He also achieved his best overall ranking that year, finishing 5th.

Throughout his career, Hannes won 13 World Cup races. He had 44 podium finishes in total. This means he finished in the top three many times. He retired after the 2021 season.

World Championship Success

Hannes Reichelt also did very well at the World Championships. These are major international competitions. In 2011, he won a silver medal in the Super-G race. This was at the World Championships in Garmisch.

His biggest win came at the 2015 World Championships. He won the gold medal in the Super-G event. This was a huge achievement for him.

Olympic Games Participation

Hannes Reichelt represented Austria in the Olympic Games. He competed in two Winter Olympics. He was part of the Austrian team in 2006 and 2018.

He did not win any Olympic medals. However, just competing in the Olympics is a great honor. It shows he was one of the best skiers in the world.
