Hanover Island in Books
Hanover Island is famous because it appears in a popular adventure book by Jules Verne.
Two Years' Vacation Story
In Jules Verne's book 'Two Years' Vacation', a made-up version of Hanover Island is featured. In the story, it's called "Chairman Island." The book tells the exciting tale of 15 boys, aged between 8 and 14, who are from Auckland, New Zealand. They get stranded on this remote island for two whole years! This happens after a big storm pushes their schooner (a type of sailing ship) onto the island's shore. The island in the book is named after the boys' boarding school.
