Hans Rosenfeldt, born Hans Petersson in 1964, is a talented Swedish writer, radio host, and actor. He is well-known for creating exciting TV shows. He helped create Swedish series like De drabbade and Oskyldigt dömd. He also created the popular Scandinavian show The Bridge and the series Marcella.

Early Life and Growing Up

Hans Petersson was born in 1964 in a Swedish town called Borås. When he was in school, he decided to change his last name to Rosenfeldt, which was his mother's maiden name.

Hans grew very tall during his teenage years. When he was 14, he was given special medicine to help limit how much more he would grow. By that age, he had already reached his full height of 2.06 meters (about 6 feet 9 inches).

Before becoming a writer, Hans tried out different jobs. He thought about becoming a basketball player. He even worked for a short time as a sea lion trainer at Borås djurpark, which is a zoo. He also worked as a driver and a teacher before he decided to become an actor.

Hans Rosenfeldt's Career Journey

Hans Rosenfeldt started acting in the late 1980s. He had small roles on television and also performed at the Gothenburg National Theatre for five years. However, he soon realized that he didn't really enjoy acting.

Instead, he found a job at a radio program called Glädjetåget. Soon after, he began writing for television. In the 1990s, he wrote for popular Swedish TV shows like the soap operas Rederiet and Tre kronor.

Radio and TV Hosting

Hans is also a well-known radio personality. For more than ten years, he has been a regular guest on Sveriges Radio P1's show På Minuten. He has also hosted TV shows, including the game show Parlamentet from 2000 to 2003.

In 2007, he helped write the Christmas calendar show for Sveriges Television, called En riktig jul. He briefly worked as a manager for entertainment at Sveriges Television, but he felt it wasn't the right job for him. Hans also hosted Sveriges Radio's winter program in 2009 and 2011. The story for his 2009 program was inspired by his mother's experience with dementia.

Creating The Bridge

In 2006, a Swedish company called Filmlance International hired Hans Rosenfeldt. They wanted him to create a crime series that would take place in both Sweden and Denmark. The show he created was called The Bridge.

The Bridge was a joint project between Denmark and Sweden. It follows two detectives who investigate crimes that happen near the border between the two countries. The first season of the show came out in 2011, and the second season aired in 2013. The Bridge became very popular around the world. It even led to five other versions of the show being made in different countries. For example, one version, also called The Bridge, was set on the American-Mexican border. Another version, The Tunnel, was set on the British-French border.

Writing Crime Novels

Hans Rosenfeldt and his friend Michael Hjorth have written a series of crime fiction novels together. These books feature a character who is a forensic psychologist, someone who studies how people's minds work in relation to crimes.

Their first book, Det fördolda (which means The Secret), was released in 2010. The next book, Lärjungen (meaning Disciple), was published in 2011. Hans and Michael also turned the first two novels into a TV miniseries called Sebastian Bergman, which was shown in 2010.

Hans Rosenfeldt also wrote the English-language detective series Marcella, which first aired in 2016.

More recently, in 2024, Hans co-wrote a Swedish TV series called Cry Wolf (or Vargasommar) with Oskar Soderlund. This show is a type of crime drama known as Nordic noir. It stars Eva Melander as an officer named Hannah Webster. The series became available in Australia in February 2025.
