Hans Adu Sarpei (born on June 28, 1976) is a former professional footballer. He was born in Tema, Ghana, and also holds German citizenship. Hans Sarpei played as a full-back, which is a defensive position in football.
He was also a regular player for the Ghana national team for many years. Sarpei represented his country in major tournaments, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.

Playing Career
Time with VfL Wolfsburg
Hans Sarpei joined VfL Wolfsburg in 2001. He played for the team for six seasons, making over 130 appearances. An appearance means he played in more than 130 games for the club. In February 2004, he extended his contract with Wolfsburg until June 30, 2007.
At the end of the 2006–07 Bundesliga season, the manager at the time, Klaus Augenthaler, decided not to renew Sarpei's contract. This meant Hans Sarpei would leave the club.
Moving to Bayer Leverkusen
On May 18, 2007, Hans Sarpei moved to Bayer Leverkusen. He joined them on a free transfer, which means no money was paid between the clubs for him to move. He signed a two-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
Playing for Schalke 04
After his time at Bayer Leverkusen, Sarpei joined Schalke 04 in 2010. He played for Schalke until 2012. During his time there, he helped the team win the DFB-Pokal in the 2010–11 season. This is a major German football cup competition.
