Early Life and Career Start
Hany Shaker started his music journey at a very young age. He learned to play the piano as a child. His mother helped him a lot with his training and career. After finishing high school in the early 1970s, he studied music at the well-known Cairo Conservatoire.
First Big Hit Song
Hany had his first big hit song in December 1972, during his second year of college. The song was called "Heloua ya Dounia" (which means "It's a Wonderful Life"). This song, written by Mohammed El Mougi, truly launched his music career.
Support from Music Legends
Even though famous legends like Umm Kulthum, Farid al-Atrash, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, and Abdel Halim Hafez were still very popular, they saw Hany's talent. They supported him, which helped him become known among these great artists. Hany still says that Abdel Halim Hafez taught him the most about music. Abdel Halim Hafez continues to inspire many young Egyptian and Arab musicians, even after his death in 1977.
Growing Popularity and Achievements
In 1974, Hany was invited to perform in a concert in Lebanon. This concert was a huge success, and since then, Hany has been very popular with people in Lebanon.
Famous Early Songs and Movies
After his success in Lebanon, Hany released many popular songs. Some of his early hits include "Siboni Aheb" (Let me love), "Kisma w’nasib" (Destiny and fate), and "Kida Bardo Ya Amar" (It's not fair, oh Moon").
During the 1970s, Hany also performed in two famous plays, "Cinderella" and "Egypt." He also starred in three romantic movies: When love sings, We live for love, and I love this and want that.
Hany as a Songwriter
Throughout his long career, Hany Shaker has shown that he is not just a talented singer but also a great songwriter. He wrote many of his own songs, including all eight hits on his Albi Maloh album from the early 1990s. He also wrote songs like "Ma’ak" and "Katabetli essenin."
He has worked with many legendary composers, such as Salah El Sharnoubi, Tarik Akif, Yehia El Mougi, Mohamed Sultan, Baligh Hamdi, and Mounir Mourad.
Blending Tradition and Modernity
Hany loves traditional Egyptian music, but he also enjoys modern songs that show what life is like today. He believes his own music style is a mix of old traditions and new ideas. In the late 1980s and 1990s, he started acting in his music videos. Some of these include "Lao Ya’ni," "Nesyanak Sa’b," "Mat Hadidish," and "Albi Maloh."
