Hardyville is a small place in Hart County, Kentucky, United States. It is not a city with its own government. Instead, it is called an unincorporated community. It is also a census-designated place (CDP), which means the government counts its population for official records.
Hardyville is located east of Munfordville on U.S. Route 31E. In 2010, about 156 people lived there. By 2020, the population grew slightly to 180 people.
History of Hardyville
A post office was opened in Hardyville in 1868. This helped people send and receive mail. The community was named after a local politician named James Greene Hardy. He was known for giving popular speeches in the area during the 1850s.
James Greene Hardy was an important person in Kentucky. He served as the Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky from 1855 to 1856. A Lieutenant Governor is like a second-in-command to the state's governor.
