What's in a Name? The History of Harkes
This community has had a few different names over time. Before it was called Harkes, people sometimes referred to it as "Elliot" or "Wilcox." The name "Harkes" came from a person who was important in the local mining business. This person, Mr. Harkes, helped give the community its current name.
