The Story of Harlem Springs
Harlem Springs was started a long time ago, on March 15, 1832. A person named Isaac Wiggins established the village. He named it "Harlem." The community was built around natural springs, which are places where water flows out of the ground.

Students who live in Harlem Springs go to school in the Carrollton Exempted Village School District. This school district serves several communities in the area.
A long time ago, from 1858 to 1867, there was a special school in Harlem Springs called the Rural Seminary. It was also known as Harlem Springs College. This college later moved to a different place and changed its name to Scio College. Eventually, Scio College joined with another school called Mount Union College.
