Harold Perrineau (born August 7, 1963) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing important roles in many movies and TV shows. Some of his most famous parts include Mercutio in Romeo+Juliet (1996) and Link in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (both 2003).
On television, he was a main character in the prison drama Oz (1997–2003) as Augustus Hill. He also played Michael Dawson in the popular series Lost (2004–2010). More recently, he stars as Sheriff Boyd Stevens in the horror series From (2022–present). Harold Perrineau has also appeared in films like The Best Man (1999) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). His other TV roles include Sons of Anarchy (2012) and Claws (2017–2022).

Early Life
Harold Perrineau was born in Brooklyn, New York City. When he was a child, his parents changed his name to Williams. However, he later changed it back to Perrineau. He did this because there was already an actor named Harold Williams in the Screen Actors Guild. This is a group for actors.
Harold studied at Shenandoah University and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He has four brothers named Anthony, Bryan, Lance, and Malik.
Acting Career Highlights
Harold Perrineau began his acting career on stage. In 1989, he played Tyrone Jackson in the first ever stage version of the movie Fame. This musical is now called Fame: The Musical.
He joined The Matrix movies as the character Link. He took over this role after the original actor left the series. Harold Perrineau also worked with his Lost co-star, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, on the HBO show Oz.
Role in Lost
Perrineau played Michael Dawson on the popular ABC show Lost. His character left the island with his son at the end of the second season. This meant he was not in the third season. In 2007, it was announced that he would return for the fourth season. However, his return as a regular cast member was short. He made one guest appearance in the sixth and final season of the show.
Other Notable Roles
Harold Perrineau has also explored a music career. He released his first single, "Stay Strong," in 2007. He worked with music producer Tomo in der Muhlen on his first album, Seeker. He has performed live shows with a full band.
In 2012, Perrineau voiced the main character in Marvel's Blade anime series. He also played Damon Pope, a main bad guy, in season 5 of the show Sons of Anarchy. From 2012 to 2013, he starred as Stevie, a bass player, in the comedy show Wedding Band.
He played Manny, an angelic messenger, in the TV series Constantine (2014–2015). This show was based on DC Comics characters. In 2016, he made his Broadway debut in the play The Cherry Orchard. He also co-starred in the legal series Goliath.
From 2017 to 2022, Perrineau played Dean in TNT's Claws. Dean is a character with autism. For this role, Harold Perrineau won an award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the NAACP Image Awards. He also played a police officer named Nick Armstrong on The Rookie from 2019 to 2021.

Harold Perrineau is married to Brittany Robinson. She used to be an actress and model. They got married in 2002. They have three daughters together. One of their daughters, Aurora, is also an actress.
