Joining the War Effort
In September 1914, just one month after the war started, Harrison joined the army. He became a soldier in the Royal Fusiliers. His rank was a private.
Illness and Passing Away
While serving in the army, Harrison became very sick. He got a serious lung disease called tuberculosis. Because of his illness, he was medically discharged from the army in June 1916. This meant he could no longer serve.
Sadly, Harrison Eke passed away from tuberculosis on April 30, 1917. He was buried in Bexleyheath Cemetery.
