Haskell Glacier is a small glacier located in Antarctica. A glacier is like a very slow-moving river of ice. This glacier flows down from an area called the Christoffersen Heights. It moves west, passing between two rocky areas known as Prism Ridge and the Forbidden Rocks. All of these features are found in the Jones Mountains.

About Haskell Glacier

Haskell Glacier is a fascinating part of Antarctica's icy landscape. It's not one of the biggest glaciers, but it plays a role in the region's geography. Understanding glaciers helps us learn about Earth's climate and history.

Where is Haskell Glacier Located?

Haskell Glacier is in a very cold place called Antarctica. Specifically, it's in a part of Antarctica known as Ellsworth Land. The glacier is found within the Jones Mountains, which are a group of mountains in this icy continent.

How Haskell Glacier Was Discovered and Named

This glacier was first mapped by a group of scientists from the University of Minnesota. They explored the Jones Mountains between 1960 and 1961. After their mapping work, the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names officially named the glacier.

The glacier was named after Lieutenant Hugh B. Haskell. He was a co-pilot in the United States Navy. On November 25, 1961, Lieutenant Haskell was part of an important flight. This flight helped set up a new camp called Sky-High Camp, which later became known as Eights Station.
