Hassan Abujihaad (born Paul R. Hall in 1976) is a former sailor who served in the United States Navy. He was found guilty of sharing secret information while working for the Navy.

Abujihaad was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He became a follower of Islam. In April 2001, while he was a signalman on the USS Benfold, he was found guilty of sharing information about where Navy ships were and their weak points on an online forum.

Early Life and Navy Service

Hassan Abujihaad grew up in Southern California. In 1997, he legally changed his name from Paul Raphael Hall to Hassan Abujihaad. He joined the Navy in January 1998. He left the Navy with an honorable discharge in 2002.

Abujihaad married Takia Haji in 2000. Their marriage ended in 2005. The next year, he became the main caregiver for their two children.

Sharing Secret Information

Police arrested Abujihaad in March 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona. He said he was not guilty on April 4, 2007. However, on March 5, 2008, a jury in New Haven, Connecticut, found him guilty.

Prosecutors said that Abujihaad, who was 32 at the time, had admitted to sharing secret military information. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. This was the longest possible sentence for that crime.

In 2009, a newspaper called the Sunday Mercury reported something interesting. They said that Abujihaad's first connection to sharing secret information came from a bookstore. This bookstore was called Maktabah Al Ansar and was located in Sparkhill, Birmingham, England.
