Hattontown used to be a small, quiet country area. It was a "crossroads," which means it was a place where two important roads met. These roads are known today as State Route 665 (Fox Mill Road) and State Route 666 (Monroe Street).
How Hattontown Got Its Name
The name "Hattontown" comes from a family called the Hattons. They were a family who lived in this area a long time ago.
Hattontown Today
Over the years, many new houses and neighborhoods have been built in the area. Because of all the new construction, the name "Hattontown" isn't really used anymore. By 1979, people from the United States Geological Survey noted that the name had not been in common use for many decades.
