Haupiri is a small place located in the West Coast region of New Zealand. It's found on the South Island. The town of Greymouth is to its west. Two rivers, the Ahaura River and the Haupiri River, flow through this area.

About Haupiri

Haupiri is a quiet area with a small number of people living there. In 2013, about 531 people lived in the wider Haupiri Area Unit. This was an increase of 150 people since 2006. Since 2018, Haupiri has been part of the Lake Brunner statistical area.

The land around Haupiri is very natural and beautiful. You can find native forests, which are full of trees and plants that grow only in New Zealand. There are also areas with dairy farms, where cows are raised for milk. Other parts have scrub, tussock (a type of grassy plant), and wetlands. Wetlands are areas where the land is often wet, like swamps or marshes.

Lake Haupiri

Just north of the main settlement is Lake Haupiri. This lake is a popular spot for fishing, especially for trout. It's a great place for people who enjoy spending time outdoors. The lake also has a special amenity area. This means it's a protected space for everyone to enjoy. It is looked after under the Conservation Act 1987. This law helps to keep New Zealand's natural places safe and beautiful.
