History of Hauterive
Hauterive was first mentioned around the year 1148. Its story truly began in 1443 when a group of monks started a monastery called Fontaine-André here.
Where is Hauterive?

Hauterive covers an area of about 2.1 square kilometers (which is about 0.8 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 60%, is covered by forests. About 12% is used for farming, and the rest, around 30%, has buildings and roads.
The town is located at the bottom of a mountain called Chaumont, very close to the city of Neuchâtel. It also sits right by Lake Neuchâtel, offering beautiful views.
