Hayes, California facts for kids
Hayes is a small community or neighborhood located in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California. It's a place with a bit of history, even if it's not a big city today.
What is Hayes?
Hayes was once a small, named place, though it's not considered a separate town or city anymore. It's part of the larger area within the San Gabriel Valley, which is a big valley east of Los Angeles.
A Look Back in Time
Hayes had its own post office for a while, from 1893 to 1902. This means people living there could send and receive mail directly in their community. The place was named after its first postmaster, a person in charge of the post office, whose name was William J. Hayes.
