Heartland, Texas facts for kids
Heartland is a special kind of community in Kaufman County, Texas, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" and a "census designated place" because it's a developed area that isn't officially a city or town, but the government still counts its population. Heartland was started in 2006.
This large community covers 2,000 acres, which is like 1,500 football fields! It's about 25 miles east of Downtown Dallas and is part of the big Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area.
Heartland is designed to be a great place to live, especially for families. It has a 35-acre lake where you can fish from a pier. There are also many paths for walking and biking, which are made to help kids walk to school safely. You'll find lots of parks, a big swimming pool, a playground, and fields for baseball, soccer, and basketball.
In 2009, Heartland was named "Community of the Year" by a group called The Homebuilders Association of Greater Dallas. In 2018, a new $6 million center was built. This center has a clubhouse, a gym, and a large water park for everyone to enjoy.
As of 2019, about half of the community was built. Plans are in place to keep building homes until 2030. When it's all finished, there will be around 8,600 homes in Heartland.
