"The Big Bopper" Richardson, were supposed to fly to Fargo. Their plane took off from Mason City, Iowa, but it crashed very soon after leaving the ground. This accident tragically took the lives of all three musicians and the pilot. This day is often remembered as "The Day the Music Died."
