Hedda Wrangel facts for kids
Anna Hedvig "Hedda" Wrangel (born Lewenhaupt) was a Swedish composer who lived from 1792 to 1833. She was known for her beautiful music.
Her Life
Hedda Wrangel was born on December 11, 1792, in Forstena. Her parents were Count Gustaf Julius Lewenhaupt and Anna Helena Alströmer.
In 1810, she married Baron Henning Wrangel af Adinal at Karlberg Palace. Her husband was a courtier, which means he worked for the royal court. They mostly lived at a large estate called Sperlingsholm manor. Hedda Wrangel did not have any children.
The famous poet Esaias Tegnér wrote a poem about her in 1827. He said that when she sang, everyone would stop and listen quietly. After Hedda passed away, the writer Fredrika Bremer described her as someone who lived life with great energy and passion. Hedda Wrangel died on July 24, 1833, in Ovesholm.
Her Music
Hedda Wrangel composed several pieces of music. One of her well-known works is a collection of songs based on a famous Swedish story called Frithiofs saga.
