Heidi Weng (born 20 July 1991) is a famous Norwegian cross-country skier. She is also a talented fell runner. Heidi is known for her amazing skills on skis and her strong performances in races. She comes from Ytre Enebakk, Norway, and competes for the club IL i BUL.

Heidi Weng's Skiing Journey
Heidi Weng has had a fantastic career in cross-country skiing. She has won many important races and titles. Her best individual wins in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup were when she won the Tour de Ski in both the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons. The Tour de Ski is a series of races over several days, and winning it shows incredible endurance and skill.
Early Success in Junior Championships
Heidi showed her talent from a young age. She won three gold medals at the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships. Two of these gold medals were in team relay events, and one was in an individual pursuit race. This early success showed everyone she was a rising star.
Winning Medals at World Championships
Heidi has won many medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. These championships are a huge event for cross-country skiers. She has earned a total of 11 medals, including 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.
- In 2013, she won a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km relay and a bronze in the 15 km pursuit.
- In 2015, she helped her team win another gold medal in the 4 × 5 km relay.
- The 2017 championships were very successful for Heidi. She won two gold medals, one in the team sprint and another in the 4 × 5 km relay. She also earned a silver medal in the 30 km freestyle race.
- In 2019, she won a silver medal in the 4 × 5 km relay.
- In 2021, she added another gold medal in the 4 × 5 km relay and a silver in the 30 km classical race.
- Most recently, in 2025, she won two silver medals, one in the 50 km freestyle and another in the 4 x 7.5 km relay.
Olympic Achievements
Heidi has also competed in the Winter Olympics, which is the biggest sports event in the world.
- At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, she won a bronze medal in the 15 km skiathlon event. This was a huge achievement for her and Norway.
- She also competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, showing strong performances in various races.
World Cup Titles
Heidi Weng has won the overall FIS Cross-Country World Cup title twice, in the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons. This means she was the best cross-country skier in the world for those two years, based on her total points from all the World Cup races. She also won the Distance World Cup title in both of those seasons.
Beyond Skiing: Fell Running
Besides cross-country skiing, Heidi is also a very good fell runner. Fell running is a sport where athletes run over hills and mountains.
- In 2010, she became a Norwegian senior champion in fell running.
- She also placed fourth at the World Junior Championships in fell running in the same year.
- Heidi has also been a Norwegian junior champion in cross-country running, which involves running over natural terrain.
