Heino Kleiminger (born February 3, 1939 – died April 16, 2015) was a German footballer. He played his entire career in East Germany, which was an independent country at the time.

Early Football Career

Heino Kleiminger was born in Wismar, a city in Mecklenburg. He started playing football for a local team called BSG Motor Wismar. In 1956, he joined a top-level club called SC Empor Rostock. This club later changed its name to FC Hansa Rostock in 1965.

Playing for FC Hansa Rostock

Kleiminger played as a forward for FC Hansa Rostock until 1970. He was a great goal scorer, netting 62 goals in 186 league matches. During his time with the club, they were very successful. They finished second in the championship four times. They also reached the cup final three times.

International Matches

Heino Kleiminger also played for the East Germany national football team. He earned four caps (played in four international matches) in 1963 and 1964. He scored an impressive five goals for his country. Four of these goals came in one match against Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), which East Germany won 12-1!

Later Career and Coaching

After leaving FC Hansa Rostock, Kleiminger played for TSG Wismar from 1970 to 1974. This team was in the second division. After he stopped playing, he became a coach. From 1976 to 1981, he coached TSG Bau Rostock, which is now known as Rostocker FC.

Family and Legacy

Heino Kleiminger passed away on April 16, 2015, at the age of 76. His son, Ralf Kleiminger, also became a footballer. Ralf played 32 matches in the East German first division during the 1980s for Rostock and 1. FC Magdeburg.
