The community got its name from the Heisler family, who were important members of the local Methodist Episcopal Church, which was started there in 1828.

Heislerville is right next to the Maurice River and the Delaware Bay. These waterways are very important to the area. Two special spots along the bay are East Point and Thompson's Beach. Today, Thompson's Beach is flooded on purpose by the state of New Jersey. It's now a special place for watching birds, which is called a bird watch conservatory. This helps protect many different kinds of birds.
The Historic East Point Lighthouse
A famous landmark in Heislerville is the East Point Lighthouse. It was built way back in 1849. You can find it on the northern side of Delaware Bay, right where the Maurice River flows into it. The lighthouse is a peaceful spot where people can go fishing or hiking. It's open to visitors a few days each year. Even though it's not staffed by people anymore, it still works remotely, guiding boats with its light. The East Point Lighthouse is very important. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. This shows its value in engineering, maritime history, and transportation.
