Helen Lake is a beautiful lake located in Glacier National Park. This park is a huge natural area found in the state of Montana, in the United States. Helen Lake is known for its stunning mountain views and clear, cool waters.
About Helen Lake
Helen Lake sits at the very beginning of the Belly River. This means it's one of the main sources of water for the river. The lake is surrounded by tall mountains. To its west, you'll see Ahern Peak. To the northwest, there's Ipasha Peak. These peaks make the area around the lake very scenic.
How Helen Lake Gets Its Water
Helen Lake gets its water from several natural sources. Many small streams flow into the lake, bringing fresh water from the surrounding land.
A very important source of water is the Ahern Glacier. This is a large body of ice that slowly melts. The meltwater from Ahern Glacier flows down a long way. It drops about 1,680 feet (510 m) over a huge waterfall called Ahern Glacier Falls. This water then lands on a rocky slope below and continues its journey to Helen Lake.
