Henrieta Farkašová, born on May 3, 1986, is a retired Slovak alpine skier. She is famous for being an eleven-time Paralympic champion and a seventeen-time world champion. She competes in the B3 category, which is for athletes with visual impairments.

Paralympic Successes

Henrieta has won many medals at the Paralympic Games. These are major international sports events for athletes with disabilities.

  • At the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada, she won three gold medals. These were in the Women's Giant Slalom, Super Combined, and Super-G events for visually impaired skiers. She also earned a silver medal in the Women's Downhill event.
  • She continued her winning streak at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. There, she won her sixth Paralympic gold medal in the women's visually impaired downhill event.
  • By the time she retired, Henrieta had collected an incredible eleven gold medals and two silver medals from the Paralympic Games.

World Championship Victories

Besides the Paralympics, Henrieta has also achieved great success at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships. She has won seventeen gold medals and three silver medals at these championships. This makes her one of the most successful alpine skiers in the world.

Her Skiing Guide

For many years, Henrieta Farkašová had a sighted guide named Natália Šubrtová. A skiing guide helps visually impaired skiers by skiing ahead and giving directions. Later, Michal Červeň became her new skiing guide. Their teamwork is key to her success on the slopes.

Special Recognition

In 2019, Henrieta Farkašová received the Laureus World Sports Award for Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability. This is a very important award that celebrates the achievements of top athletes with disabilities from around the world.

Other Activities

In 2023, Henrieta Farkašová appeared on the Slovak TV show Let's Dance. This shows she has interests beyond skiing!
