Henry Folliott, 1st Baron Folliott (1568–1622) was an important English soldier. He served in the English army in Ireland. He is known for fighting in the Nine Years' War. He also helped stop O'Doherty's rebellion at the Siege of Tory Island.

Early Life and Family
Henry Folliott was born in 1568. He was the second son of Thomas Folliott and Katherine Lygon. His father was a landowner from Pirton Court in Pirton, Worcestershire. His family was a branch of the old Foliot noble family. This family had been in England since the Norman conquest in 1066.
Henry's mother, Katherine Lygon, was his father's second wife. She came from Madresfield Court in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Marriage and Children
Folliott married Anne Strode. She was the daughter of Sir William Strode from Stoke-sub-Hamdon, Somerset.
Henry and Anne had five sons and two daughters:
- Thomas (1613–1697), who became the next Baron Folliott.
- Michael Folliott (died 1638).
- Arthur, who died when he was young.
- Henry, who died without having children.
- Charles (died after 1621).
Their two daughters were:
- Frances (died 1638). She married Sir Robert King. They had children, including John King, 1st Baron Kingston.
- Elizabeth. She married three times. Her first husband was Richard Wingfield, and they had a son, Folliott Wingfield, 1st Viscount Powerscourt.
Military Career in Ireland
Henry Folliott moved to Ireland to serve the English government. He fought during the Nine Years' War (Ireland) (1594–1603). In 1599, he was made a knight by Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex.
Battle of Kinsale
In 1601, he led a group of soldiers under Lord Mountjoy. They fought in the important Battle of Kinsale.
Stopping Rebellions
After the war, in 1603, he was asked to help build a town near Ballyshannon Castle in County Donegal. In 1608, he led troops to stop O'Doherty's rebellion. He successfully captured or killed some of the rebels during the Siege of Tory Island. In 1613, the town of Ballyshannon (Parliament of Ireland constituency) was officially made a borough.
Later Life and Achievements
On January 22, 1620, Henry Folliott was given a special title. He became Baron Folliott, of Ballyshannon in the County of Donegal. This was a noble title in the Peerage of Ireland. As Lord Folliott, he gained control of valuable salmon fishing rights. He also acquired over 3,000 acres (about 12 square kilometers) of land in County Donegal. His home was Wardtown Castle, near Ballyshannon.
Lord Folliott passed away on November 10, 1622. His oldest son, Thomas, became the 2nd Baron Folliott. Henry's wife, Anne, later married Robert Dillon. She died around 1650.
