Henry Hyde's Character
Henry Hyde's son, Edward Hyde, who became the Earl of Clarendon, spoke very highly of his father. He said that Henry was the best father and friend anyone could ask for. Edward felt that none of the honors he received in his own life were as important as being Henry Hyde's son.
One letter from Henry Hyde that still exists shows he was a kind and good-humored country gentleman. He cared about poor people, which was not always common for people of his social class back then.
