Early Life and Public Service

Henry Moore was the son of Ponsonby Moore, 9th Earl of Drogheda. His mother was Anne Tower Moir. From 1907 to 1917, he worked as a clerk in the Foreign Office. This office helps the government with international relations.

On October 28, 1908, Henry became the 10th Earl of Drogheda after his father passed away. In 1913, he was chosen as an Irish representative peer. This meant he could have a seat in the House of Lords, which is part of the British Parliament.

Military Service

After leaving the Foreign Office, Henry joined the Irish Guards as an officer on July 31, 1917. He fought in the First World War. For his service, he was given a special honor in 1919. He became a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. He left the army in 1921.

After leaving the army, Drogheda studied law. He became a member of the Inner Temple, which is a professional group for lawyers.

Drogheda was married twice. His first wife was Kathleen Pelham Burn. His second wife was Olive Mary Meatyard. His eldest son from his first marriage, Charles Moore, became the next Earl of Drogheda after him.
