Early Life and Political Start
Henry Prittie began his political career in 1767. He was chosen to represent a place called Banagher in the Irish House of Commons. This was like being elected to a government assembly today. He held this seat for about a year.
A Career in Parliament
After Banagher, Henry Prittie continued his work in parliament. From 1769 to 1776, he represented Gowran. Then, from 1776 to 1790, he was a representative for his home area, County Tipperary.
In 1770, Henry Prittie was given another important role. He was named High Sheriff of Tipperary. A High Sheriff was a top official in a county. They were responsible for keeping law and order.
Becoming Baron Dunalley
Henry Prittie's long service in public life was recognized. On July 31, 1800, he was given a special title. He was made a Baron in the Peerage of Ireland. This meant he became a nobleman. His new title was Baron Dunalley, named after Kilboy in County Tipperary.

His Legacy
Baron Dunalley passed away in May 1801. He was 57 years old. His eldest son, Henry, took over his title. He became the 2nd Baron Dunalley. Lady Catherine, Henry's wife, died later on February 26, 1821.
Henry Prittie, 1st Baron Dunalley, is remembered for his dedication to public service. He served in the Irish Parliament for many years. His family continued to hold the title of Baron Dunalley after him.
