Henryk Wujec (born December 25, 1940 – died August 15, 2020) was an important Polish politician. He was a member of the Sejm, which is like Poland's parliament.

Early Life and Education

Henryk Wujec was born in a place called Podlesie, Biłgoraj County in Poland. When he was a child, he went through a very difficult time. He was held in a place called Majdanek concentration camp during World War II.

Later, he studied at Warsaw University. He earned a degree in Physics. In 1970, he continued his studies in electron technology.

Working for Change

Even though he was a physicist, Henryk Wujec became very active in politics. In the 1980s, he was a key activist in the Solidarity movement. This movement worked for big changes in Poland.

Because of his political work, he was put in prison in 1984. He was held at a place called Białołęka.

Role in Government

Henryk Wujec also served in the Polish government. From 1999 to 2000, he was the Secretary of State. This role was in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. He worked under the government of Jerzy Buzek.

Later, in 2010, he became an advisor to Bronisław Komorowski. At that time, Komorowski became the President of Poland.

Later Life and Legacy

Henryk Wujec passed away on August 15, 2020, at the age of 79. He had been ill for a long time. He was buried at the Powązki Military Cemetery.

After his death, he received a very special award. He was given Poland's highest honor, the Order of the White Eagle.
