Herb Miller's Football Journey
Herb Miller has played for several teams in the National Football League (NFL). He started his professional career in 2019.
Playing for the Kansas City Chiefs
After college, Herb Miller joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He was signed as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the main player draft. He participated in a tryout with the team. Later that year, he was waived by the Chiefs. This happened during the final roster cuts before the season began.
Time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Miller then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in December 2019. He was first signed to their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team. They can be called up to play in games if needed.
In 2020, he was re-signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad. He was called up to the main team several times that season. In one game against the Detroit Lions, Miller made his first career interception. This is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an opposing player.
A big moment for Miller came when the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV. They defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in that championship game. This meant Miller earned a Super Bowl ring. He re-signed with the Buccaneers in 2021. He was later released from their practice squad in September 2021.
Joining the Cleveland Browns
In September 2021, Miller was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He was moved between the practice squad and the active roster several times. Being on the active roster means a player can play in games. He was signed to the Browns' active roster in October 2021.
Miller continued to move between the practice squad and active roster in 2022. This is common for players who are still proving themselves. He was waived by the Browns in November 2022.
With the Carolina Panthers
In January 2023, Miller signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers. This was a reserve/future contract. It meant he would join the team for the next season. He was waived by the Panthers in August 2023.
Playing for the Buffalo Bills
In October 2023, Miller was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad. This happened after another player, Tre'Davious White, got injured. Miller was released from the Bills in December 2023.
