Hersey is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It's not a big city or a town with its own government. Instead, it's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's part of a larger area, the town of Springfield, in St. Croix County. Hersey is located near the Union Pacific Railroad, about 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of another community called Wilson.
History of Hersey
Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Hersey is named after a person! A long time ago, in 1873, a post office opened in Hersey. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1954.
The community was named after Samuel F. Hersey. He was a partner in a company that cut down trees for wood, called a logging firm. His company was based in Stillwater, Minnesota.
