Hessen Cassel is a small community in Indiana, United States. It is not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it is part of Marion Township in Allen County.
A Look Back: History of Hessen Cassel
Hessen Cassel was officially planned and mapped out in 1863. This process is called "platting." Many of the first people to settle here were from Germany. They named the community after a special region in Germany. This region was called the Landgraviate of Hesse-Kassel. It was a territory ruled by a leader known as a Landgrave.
