Hideki Maeda (前田 秀樹, born May 13, 1954) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He played as a Midfielder and was a key player for the Japan national team. After his playing days, he became a football manager, leading different clubs.

Playing for Clubs: A Football Journey
Hideki Maeda was born in Kyoto, Japan, on May 13, 1954. After finishing his studies at Hosei University, he joined a football club called Furukawa Electric in 1977. He played for this club for many years, becoming a very important player.
Winning Championships with Furukawa Electric
During his time with Furukawa Electric, Maeda helped his team win several big titles.
- They won the Japan Soccer League championship in the 1985–86 season.
- They also won the JSL Cup three times: in 1977, 1982, and 1986.
- A major achievement was winning the 1986 Asian Club Championship, which is a big tournament for clubs in Asia.
Maeda was recognized for his great skills. He was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team in the Japan Soccer League in both 1980 and 1982. He played 209 games in the league and scored 35 goals before he retired in 1989.
Representing Japan: National Team Career
Hideki Maeda also had a successful career playing for his country. He made his first appearance for the Japan national team on August 4, 1975. At that time, he was still a student at Hosei University. His first game was against the Bangladesh team.
Becoming a National Team Captain
In 1978, he was selected to play for Japan in the 1978 Asian Games. In the early 1980s, he was given the important role of captain for the national team. He led the team with great skill and dedication. Maeda played a total of 65 games for Japan and scored 11 goals. His last game for the national team was in 1984.
Coaching Teams: After Playing
After he stopped playing football, Hideki Maeda decided to become a coach. He started his coaching career in 1994 at JEF United Ichihara. This club was actually the former Furukawa Electric team, where he had played for many years.
Managing Different Clubs
In 1997, he coached the youth team at JEF United Ichihara, helping young players develop their skills. The next year, in 1998, he moved to another club called Yokogawa Electric. He managed this team until 1999. Later, in 2003, he became the manager for Mito HollyHock. He stayed with Mito HollyHock for several years, managing the team until 2007.
