Hideyuki Ujiie (born February 23, 1979) is a former professional football player from Japan. He played as a midfielder for several clubs during his career. He was also part of Japan's national youth team.

Playing Career

Hideyuki Ujiie was born in Tokyo, Japan, on February 23, 1979. He started his football journey in the youth team of Yokohama Flügels in 1994. He played there until 1996, learning the basics of the game.

Early Club Days

After a year of training, Ujiie joined the main team of Yokohama Flügels in 1998. He started as a forward, which is a player who tries to score goals. However, his coach, Carles Rexach, changed his position to a defensive midfielder. This role means he helped protect the team's goal and win the ball back.

Sadly, the Yokohama Flügels club faced money problems and had to close down at the end of 1998. This meant Ujiie needed to find a new team.

Moving to New Teams

In 1999, Hideyuki Ujiie joined Omiya Ardija, a club in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football league. He quickly became a regular player as a defensive midfielder. He played many games for Omiya Ardija over several years.

After 2003, he played less often for Omiya Ardija. In 2005, he moved to Thespa Kusatsu, a team that had just moved up to the J2 League. He played 26 games for them that year. However, Thespa Kusatsu also faced money issues, and Ujiie left the club at the end of 2005.

Later Career and Retirement

In May 2006, Ujiie joined Tonan SC Gunma, which later became Tonan Maebashi. He continued to play football there for many years. He finally retired from playing professional football at the end of the 2014 season.

Representing Japan

In April 1999, Hideyuki Ujiie was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. This team played in the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, which is a big international tournament for young players.

During this tournament, Ujiie played in one important match. He stepped in for another player, Shinji Ono, who could not play because of a suspension. Japan did very well in the tournament, finishing in second place!
