Highland Hills is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 662 at the 2020 census. A suburb of Cleveland, it was formally incorporated in 1990.

Geography

Highland Hills is located at 41°26′49″N 81°31′28″W / 41.44694°N 81.52444°W / 41.44694; -81.52444 (41.446854, -81.524448).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.97 square miles (5.10 km2), of which 1.96 square miles (5.08 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,130 people, 268 households, and 115 families living in the village. The population density was 576.5 inhabitants per square mile (222.6/km2). There were 315 housing units at an average density of 160.7 per square mile (62.0/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 23.5% White, 74.4% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.7% of the population.

There were 268 households, of which 19.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 16.0% were married couples living together, 23.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 57.1% were non-families. 52.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 30.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.79 and the average family size was 2.65.

The median age in the village was 33 years. 23.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 17% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.8% were from 25 to 44; 22.2% were from 45 to 64; and 14.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 67.3% male and 32.7% female.

Education

The Village of Highland Hills is served by the Warrensville Heights City School District, which has four campuses and an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students.
