Higueras is a small and charming municipality located in Spain. It is part of the comarca called Alto Palancia. This area is found within the Province of Castellón, which is in the Valencian Community.
In 2015, Higueras had a population of 91 people. By 2018, this number was 62. The people who live here are called Higuereño or Higuereña.
History of Higueras
The village of Higueras has a long history. It was first mentioned many centuries ago, in the 13th century. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name: Torre de la Higuera. This name suggests it might have had a tower or a significant fig tree (higuera means fig tree) in the past.
Geography and Location
Higueras is situated in a beautiful part of Spain. It is located in the Province of Castellón. The town is quite high up, with an elevation of about 671 meters (or 2,201 feet) above sea level.
This municipality shares its borders with several other towns. These include Caudiel, Montán, Pavías, and Torralba del Pinar. Being surrounded by these towns helps connect Higueras to the wider region.
