Wind Power in Higueruela

Higueruela is famous for its large wind farm, called the Higueruela Park. This park has 244 giant Wind turbines. These turbines use the wind to create electricity. When it was built in 1999, the Higueruela Park was actually the biggest wind farm in the whole world for a while! It can produce 161 megawatts of power, which is enough electricity for many homes. Wind farms are a great way to get clean energy.

Local Celebrations

The people of Higueruela love to celebrate! Every year, from May 21 to May 24, they have a special festival for their Patron Saint Quiteria. A patron saint is like a special protector for the town. The main church in Higueruela is also named after Santa Quiteria. Another important day is in August, when they celebrate Saint Barbara's day.
