Hilton is a friendly neighborhood located in Perth, Western Australia. It is part of the City of Fremantle. Hilton is known for its mix of older and newer homes. It's also very close to the city of Fremantle and the beautiful Indian Ocean.
About Hilton
Hilton has many different kinds of houses. You can find older homes made of wood or fibro, and also newer brick houses. The area is currently being updated, with new and bigger homes being built.
After World War II, Hilton was planned as a "garden suburb." This idea meant that homes were built on large blocks of land. The streets also had wide grassy areas, called verges, which made the neighborhood feel open and green.
Shopping and Services
Hilton has a lively village centre on the north side of South Street. Here, you can find a greengrocer for fresh produce, a gift shop, a newsagent, and a chemist. There's also a butcher, a hair salon, and a café where you can grab a snack. You can also find a veterinarian for your pets.
Other shops and services are located along South Street, Paget Street, and Carrington Street. These include a public bar, a pizzeria, and a post office. In 2021, the old IGA supermarket was taken down. A new, bigger shopping area is being built in its place. This new space will have a Coles supermarket, another café, and a liquor store.
Getting Around
Hilton is easy to get to and from. It's only about a five-minute drive from the main part of Fremantle. You can also quickly reach the Indian Ocean from Hilton.
