Hiroki Aratani (荒谷 弘樹, Aratani Hiroki, born August 6, 1975) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper for several teams in Japan's professional leagues.

Early Career and First Teams

Hiroki Aratani was born in Takaoka, Toyama on August 6, 1975. After finishing high school, he started his professional football journey.

He joined J1 League club Urawa Reds in 1994. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football league. However, he did not get to play in any matches during his time there. Other goalkeepers like Hisashi Tsuchida and Yuki Takita were often chosen instead.

In 1998, Aratani moved to Kawasaki Frontale. This club was part of the Japan Football League at that time. Again, he did not play in any games, as Takeshi Urakami was the main goalkeeper.

Time with Omiya Ardija

In 1999, Hiroki Aratani joined Omiya Ardija. This was a big step in his career. For the first few years, until 2001, he did not play much. Atsushi Shirai was the team's main goalkeeper.

Aratani finally made his debut in 2002. He started to get more chances to play. In 2003, he faced another challenge when Eiji Kawashima became the main goalkeeper.

However, after Kawashima left the club in 2004, Aratani became the regular goalkeeper. He played many matches that year. His team, Omiya Ardija, finished in second place in the J2 League. This meant they were promoted to the J1 League, the top division.

Aratani continued to play for Omiya Ardija in the J1 League. But in 2007, he faced an injury. This led to him losing his starting position to Koji Ezumi. He did not play any matches in 2008.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2009, Aratani moved to Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J2 League. He played in many games during the 2009 season.

After that season, he left Consadole Sapporo. In 2010, he joined another J2 League club, Ventforet Kofu. His new team did very well that year. Ventforet Kofu finished in second place in 2010. This earned them a promotion to the J1 League for the 2011 season.

Hiroki Aratani played for Ventforet Kofu in the J1 League in 2011. At the end of the 2011 season, he decided to retire from professional football. He played a total of 170 league matches throughout his career.
