Hiroto Kōmoto (甲本 ヒロト, Kōmoto Hiroto, born 17 March 1963) is a famous Japanese rock singer. He is known for being the lead singer of several popular bands. These include The Blue Hearts, The High-Lows, and The Cro-Magnons.

Early Life and Education

Hiroto Kōmoto was born in 1963 in Okayama, Japan. He went to junior high school in Okayama. Later, he attended Sōzan High School. After high school, he studied at Hosei University. However, he decided to leave before finishing his degree.

Music Career Highlights

Hiroto Kōmoto has had a long and successful career in music. He has been part of some of Japan's most influential rock bands.

Starting with The Blue Hearts

In 1985, Kōmoto teamed up with Masatoshi Mashima. Together, they formed a band called The Blue Hearts. Their first single, Hito ni Yasashiku, came out in 1987. That same year, they released another big hit, Linda Linda. The Blue Hearts became very popular.

Forming The High-Lows

The Blue Hearts took a break from touring and recording in 1994. Kōmoto then started working on his own music. In 1995, The Blue Hearts officially broke up. Kōmoto and Mashima quickly formed a new band called The High-Lows. Their first single, Missile Man, and their first album came out on October 25, 1995. A few years later, Kōmoto and Mashima built their own recording studio. They named it Atomic Boogie Studio. The High-Lows continued to make music until 2005.

The Cro-Magnons and Solo Work

After The High-Lows, Kōmoto continued to create music. In 2006, he released two solo songs on July 5. These songs were Manatsu no Sutoreeto and Tengoku Umare. He played all the instruments himself for these songs. This included guitar, bass, and drums.

Later in 2006, Kōmoto and Mashima joined forces again. They performed at a rock festival on July 23. This performance marked the official start of their newest band, The Cro-Magnons. Their first single, Tallyho, was released on September 20. The Cro-Magnons have continued to be active and popular.

Personal Life

Hiroto Kōmoto's full name in Japanese writing is 甲本 浩人. However, when his name is written in official publications, a different Japanese writing style called katakana is often used.

He has a younger brother named Masahiro Kōmoto. Masahiro is a well-known actor.
