Hiroyuki Shirai (白井 博幸, Shirai Hiroyuki, born 17 June 1974) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender during his career. After he stopped playing, he became a coach. He is currently a coach at J3 League club FC Ryukyu.

Hiroyuki Shirai's Football Journey
Starting His Career
Hiroyuki Shirai was born in Fuji, Japan, on June 17, 1974. After finishing high school, he joined his local club, Shimizu S-Pulse, in 1993. This was the beginning of his professional football career.
Moving to New Teams
After playing for Shimizu S-Pulse, he moved to Verdy Kawasaki in 1997. The next year, in 1998, he joined Cerezo Osaka. He played for these teams for a short time.
Playing for Shonan Bellmare
In 2000, Hiroyuki Shirai joined J2 League club Shonan Bellmare. He stayed with this team for six seasons. He played many matches for them during this period.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2006, he moved to Vegalta Sendai. He started as a regular player there. However, he got an injury in June 2006. This injury caused him to lose his regular spot on the team. In 2008, he joined Japan Football League club FC Ryukyu. He only played three league matches for them because of another injury. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2008 season.
Playing for Japan's National Team
The 1996 Summer Olympics
In July 1996, Hiroyuki Shirai was chosen to play for the Japan U-23 national team. He participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics. He played in two matches during this important tournament.
The "Miracle of Miami"
Even though Japan won two matches in the tournament, they did not make it past the first round. One of their wins was against Brazil. This victory was a big surprise and is famous in Japan. People call it the "Miracle of Miami" (マイアミの奇跡).
