Hisao Sekiguchi (born October 29, 1954) is a former Japanese football player. He was a forward, which means he played in an attacking position. Sekiguchi played for the Japan national team and was known for his time with Mitsubishi Motors.

Playing for Clubs

Hisao Sekiguchi was born in Saitama, Japan. After finishing high school, he joined his local football club, Mitsubishi Motors, in 1973. This team was very successful during his time there.

Early Success with Mitsubishi Motors

In his first year, 1973, Sekiguchi's team won two big titles. They became champions of the Japan Soccer League and also won the Emperor's Cup. These were major achievements in Japanese football.

Winning Many Titles

The year 1978 was especially great for Mitsubishi Motors. They won all three main titles in Japan. These included the Japan Soccer League, the JSL Cup, and the Emperor's Cup. It was a fantastic season for the club and Sekiguchi.

More Victories and Retirement

In the early 1980s, Sekiguchi and his team continued their winning ways. They won the Emperor's Cup again in 1980. They also secured the JSL Cup in 1981 and the Japan Soccer League title in 1982. Sekiguchi played for Mitsubishi Motors until he retired in 1988. During his career, he played 153 games in the league and scored 36 goals.

Playing for Japan

Hisao Sekiguchi also had the honor of playing for his country. He joined the Japan national team.

National Team Debut

Sekiguchi made his first appearance for the Japan national team on May 23, 1978. This game was against the Thailand team. He also played in another match for Japan in July of that same year. In total, he played 3 games for Japan in 1978 and scored 1 goal.
