Hocking is a suburb found in Perth, Western Australia. It is part of the larger area known as the City of Wanneroo. Before 1994, Hocking was actually part of the nearby suburb of Wanneroo.
The suburb got its name from Herbert Hocking. He was a local landowner and an important person in the community. Herbert Hocking was the first chairman of the Wanneroo Road Board. This board was like a local council that managed roads and other services. He was a member of the board for many years, from 1903 to 1931. He also helped manage money for the Agricultural Society in 1909.
Today, Hocking is growing with many new houses. You can find these new homes especially on Hinckley Parkway in the eastern part of the suburb. There is also a lot of empty land that is being developed for new buildings. Some older areas still have "market gardens," which are farms that grow fresh produce for sale. The main new housing area is called Belvedere Hills.
