Cylindropuntia fosbergii is a special type of cactus. It is often called Hoffmann's teddybear cholla, pink teddy-bear cholla, or Mason Valley cholla. This unique cactus only grows in a small part of southeastern California. You can find it on the flat lands and hillsides near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. This area is part of the western Sonoran Desert.

What Hoffmann's Teddybear Cholla Looks Like

This amazing cactus can grow very tall, sometimes over seven feet high! That's taller than most grown-ups. One of the coolest things about Cylindropuntia fosbergii is the pretty pink color on its spines. These spines help protect the cactus from animals.
