Holland is a small, quiet community located in the southeastern part of Allen County, Kentucky, in the United States. It's not a big city or town, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. Instead, it's part of the larger county. Holland is mostly made up of rural farmland and is about 10 miles east of a town called Scottsville.

History of Holland

Holland got its name from an early settler named William Holland. A post office was opened in the community in 1881. This was an important step for the area, as it helped people send and receive mail more easily.

Community Life

The Old Order Mennonite Community

Holland is home to an Old Order Mennonite community. This group of people lives a simple lifestyle, often focusing on farming and strong community bonds. They follow traditional ways and often dress plainly.

This community began as one of the "Christian Communities" started by Elmo Stoll. After Elmo Stoll passed away in 1998, many of these communities began to change or disband. However, the group in Holland decided to continue their way of life. They chose to join the Noah Hoover Mennonites, who live in nearby Scottsville. This helped them maintain their traditions and community spirit.
