Holly Lawrence was born on February 25, 1990. She is a talented triathlete. A triathlete is an athlete who competes in a triathlon, which is a race with three parts: swimming, cycling, and running. Holly competed for Wales in the mixed relay event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She also won the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Interestingly, Holly is one of three children born at the same time, making her a fraternal triplet.
Holly's Triathlon Journey
Holly Lawrence started her journey in sports when she was 17 or 18 years old. She began competing in the United Kingdom.
Early Competitions
In 2014, Holly took part in the European Triathlon Championships. She did very well in this competition. In the individual race, she finished in eleventh place. She also helped her team win a bronze medal in the mixed team relay event.
Later in 2014, Holly represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She competed in the mixed relay event, where teams of male and female athletes race together. Her team finished in eighth place.
Ironman 70.3 Success
In 2015, Holly began competing in Ironman 70.3 events. These are longer triathlon races. The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles that athletes cover. This includes a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run.
Holly achieved a huge victory in 2016. She won the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. This big race took place in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia. She finished the race in an amazing time of four hours, nine minutes, and 11 seconds. In the same year, she also won three other Ironman 70.3 events, including one in Beijing.
In 2017, Holly joined the Trek Factory Racing triathlon team. This is a professional team that supports top athletes. She continued to perform strongly. In 2019, she earned a silver medal at the 2019 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. She finished second behind another famous triathlete, Daniela Ryf.
