Holoverse facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Holoverse is a super cool amusement park located on the Gold Coast in Australia. It first opened its doors in June 2016. This amazing place is owned by a company called Euclideon Entertainment. Bruce Dell started Euclideon in 2017. He created the special technology that lets everyone experience awesome holograms. Holoverse uses this fun technology to make fake environments and objects. These look like real things but are actually holograms!

How Holoverse Started

The Australian Government helped pay for some of Holoverse. The Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, officially opened the center. A Premier is like the leader of a state government. Holoverse has 40 special hologram rooms. It was the very first center of its kind in Australia. It's also said to have the most hologram rooms in the world! In November 2018, Euclideon, the company that owns Holoverse, announced something new. They planned to add 'hologram arcade tables' to Holoverse for even more fun.

What You Can Experience

The main company, Euclideon, creates new games and experiences every three months. While most experiences are just for fun, some are also educational. They offer special content for schools and interactive ways to learn. So far, Holoverse has several exciting experiences you can try:

  • Experiences: Volume 1
  • False Eden
  • Fly Over the Gold Coast
  • Holographic Planetarium (This has two parts!)
  • Veggie Patch Valley
  • Dinosaur Experience
  • Holographic Arcade Tables

Holoverse Around the World

Holoverse is growing! On February 12, 2019, the second Holoverse center opened. This new location is in Muscat, Oman, which is a country in the Middle East.

How the Technology Works

The technology used at Holoverse is often called a Virtual Reality Cave. Sometimes it's just called a VR CAVE environment. To make a hologram, many things work together. These include projectors and special flat or angled surfaces. You also wear 3D glasses. There are tracking domes and spheres that follow your movements. The computer creates 3D scenes with millions of tiny digital "atoms." Sometimes, real objects are scanned with lasers to become part of the hologram.

Holoverse vs. Regular Virtual Reality

Holoverse's technology is different from standard Virtual Reality (VR). With regular VR, people wear headsets that cover their eyes. They can't see their own body, like their arms or legs, because the screens block their view. In a VR CAVE like Holoverse, you wear clear glasses instead. You can still see your own body! The computer-generated objects then appear to be right there in the real world with you. It's like the computer game comes to life around you.
