Holy Bagel (Hebrew: הולי בייגל) is a popular restaurant chain in Israel. It is known for selling tasty bagel sandwiches, fresh salads, and other light meals.

The Story of Holy Bagel

Holy Bagel started in 1999 in Jerusalem. Two friends, Ari Dubin and Zev Wernick, created it. They wanted to open an American-style bagel shop. Both Ari and Zev had worked in restaurants in Israel before. They knew a lot about the food business.

They had both moved to Israel from the United States. Their first Holy Bagel store was right next to a place called Bonkers Bagels, where they used to work.

Growing the Business

In 2002, Holy Bagel opened another store on Jaffa Road in Jerusalem. This spot became available after another donut shop closed there. However, business at this new location became much slower for a while due to a sad event nearby.

Over time, Holy Bagel grew bigger. They opened more locations in different parts of Jerusalem, like Ramot, Geula, and the Jerusalem Central Bus Station. They also expanded outside Jerusalem. You can find Holy Bagel restaurants in cities like Beit Shemesh, Modi'in, Ra'anana, and Netanya.

Where to Find Holy Bagel

As of November 2016, Holy Bagel had 9 restaurants across Israel. All of these locations are run by different owners as franchises. This means people can open their own Holy Bagel store following the company's rules.

Holy Bagel also has a special service for events. They offer catering for parties with 60 or more guests anywhere in the country. Their main factory, where many of their bagels and other foods are prepared, is in Talpiot, Jerusalem.

Keeping Kosher

All Holy Bagel restaurants follow strict kosher rules. This means their food is prepared according to Jewish dietary laws. The term "Mehadrin" means they follow a very high standard of kosher.
