A Look at the Church's History
The very first chapel in Boltby was built way back in 1409. Imagine how old that is! This original building was later replaced. A new church was built and opened on 23 October 1802.
Changes and Restorations Over Time
The church you see today has been changed and improved over the years. In 1856, the church went through a big restoration project. Architects from York, including John Atkinson, worked on it. New church furniture was made by a company called French from Bolton-le-Moors. The church officially reopened on 8 January 1856, looking fresh and new. Later, in 1907, a porch was added to the church's entrance.
Keeping Records: Parish Registers
Churches often keep important records. For Holy Trinity Church, parish registers (books that record births, marriages, and deaths) date back to around 1600. These old books give us a peek into the lives of people who lived in Boltby centuries ago.
A Chapel of Ease
Holy Trinity Church is known as a "chapel of ease" to St Felix’s Church in Felixkirk. This means it's a smaller church built to make it easier for people in Boltby to attend services without having to travel far to the main parish church in Felixkirk.
