Holyoke Heritage State Park is a cool place in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where you can learn about history. It's a state park that opened in 1986. The park was built on the spot where a big silk factory, called the William Skinner Silk Mill, once stood. That factory was sadly destroyed by a fire in 1980. Today, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation takes care of the park.

Ride the Historic Park Railroad

From 1988 to 1996, the railroad offered regular scenic tours. These trips took passengers to places outside the city. Later, in 2005, three special train cars were sold to another railway museum. Those cars still run today, keeping the park's original look!

Now, the Pioneer Valley Railroad offers exciting train rides from the park. Every fall, you can take a passenger ride to Westfield and see the beautiful fall foliage. They also have a special Santa Train each year, which is a big hit with kids!
